I believe that children have their own learning styles and ways of absorbing the world around them. I expose them to music and new ideas by getting them involved in an interactive way (also with directions built right into the song to act like animals or freeze or run, etc.). In my live show, I also use hand movements and dance moves, and props such as streamers, scarves and puppets. I strive to write such catchy pop melodies and inject irresistible beats in my songs (with the help of world class musicians) that adults will also feel moved to dance. I try to inject the most fun I can into the learning process.
I have won the following prestigious awards (with educators and parents as judges) for my music CDs: GOLD - National Association of Parenting Publications CD OF THE YEAR - Creative Child Magazine Awards SILVER - Parents Choice STARRED REVIEW - School Library Journal I have won the following for my live shows for children: RISING STAR - Gigmasters TOP 10 FINALIST - Red Tricycle Magazine's Totally Awesome Awards

Birdie's Playhouse creates rhythmic music and shows in English and Spanish that get kids to "shake their tail feathers," founded by the only Latina Ray Charles backup singer in history Birdie Mendoza. Thousands of children and families across the west coast have danced to their infectious tropical Latin beats and Birdie opened for Greg & Steve at the 41st Annual Head Start conference. The School Library Journal starred review says “Songs from this collection (Move) could easily be used in lessons about animals as well as enjoyed as family listening. A must have for every collection.” Their Spanish-language CD Muévete Como Los Animales “Tiene TUMBAO!” says top 100 blog Spanglish Baby. All 3 CD titles are used in schools and libraries across the country.
