TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I believe that our schools' purpose is to prepare individuals to live independently in such a way that they're able to pursue their passions and be productive members of society. In the time that I've been teaching, I have had great opportunities to teach in a variety of settings. I have taught in alternative education, where I specialize in behavior disorders and severe/profound intellectual disabilities. In the area of special education, I focus primarily on behavioral disorders. My passion is developing adaptive skills to ready students for the work place and higher education. I have an endorsement in special education, but I also have co-taught primarily in the content areas of Biology, Algebra, and Geometry. I have also had the chance to co-teach Social Studies and English. These areas have helped me develop an understanding for academic skills needed to be successful in a variety of settings as well as how to effectively collaborate with individuals from other disciplines.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Philosophy: Everyone has the ability to learn, it is the path and dedication that differs from person-to-person. As an educator, I am tasked with trying to unleash that potential.
