TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Before teaching in the public school arena, I taught Drug Prevention Education on behalf of a local drug and alcohol treatment hospital in the local area public elementary schools. Following that teaching experience, I have taught 3rd through 6th grades mainly in the areas of math, social studies and science. https://theyellowtoptable.blog/

MY TEACHING STYLE

I love hands-on and play learning even for upper elementary students and I find they enjoy it too. I have multiple learning centers set up in my classroom which mimic the real world like a grocery store, a "going out to eat" station with real menus from various eateries, a measurement station to measure everything from toothpaste to cereal boxes. I am a big proponent of the Layered Curriculum method of teaching and learning as presented by Dr. Kathy Nunley and choose to set up my classroom so as it is varied in learning styles, and moves all students, including those with learning difficulties through Bloom's Taxonomy to the highest levels of learning. I have worked with Special Education teams and find differentiating instruction to be a thrilling challenge and a big need in schools of all sorts today.
