I have taught private school, public school, summer camps and in different states. I have taught the very young, the old and those in between. I have taught Art and Elementary school. Having had these many different experiences has helped me to become a better teacher. I currently teach Kindergarten and have for the past four years. It is my favorite grade to teach so far!
I strive to provide my students with a safe place to come every day to explore the world, build their self confidence, make new friends. I instill in them the importance of using their manners and being respectful to everyone. I do not yell but rather make sure the students are aware of what the rules are and when such rules are broken, remind them that it was because they made a choice to do so. We discuss what happened and talk about how things could be done differently the next time. I do my best to help my students understand that they can make good choices or poor, and that I will be there to help them make the best choices they can. My goal is to make learning fun and exciting and to help my students love school as much as I did as a child.
Yet to be added
I began my education at a Waldorf school where art was a part of our every day lives, we were encouraged to think outside the box, we had discussions about things and we had the freedom to explore the world. I attended a public high school and then went on to attend Guilford College. Being able to attend both private school and public school has given me insight into many ways of teaching and learning. It has helped me to become a better teacher.
