TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught special education for 12 years and have developed curriculum for a self-contained junior/senior level consumer math class. Most of the materials I have created are differentiated for two levels (or can easily adapted on the fly for students) to meet my students wide range of abilities and needs. I'm currently in a life skills transition program for 18-22 yr old young adult students and will expand my store to include materials that I have developed.

MY TEACHING STYLE

The skill I work to teach my students is to be independent problem solvers. I have created my lessons and shaped my teaching methods to encourage students to use their resources (materials from class) and their peers to get their questions answered. When developing my lesson materials I try to keep everything simple with minimal text directions and low level vocabulary with corresponding and supportive pictures. It is so important that students can easily navigate the resources to find their answer in order to feel independent and successful.
