Show Don't Tell Writing for PROMETHEAN Board
- Flipchart File
Description
How often do your students write by telling their readers everything? This lesson is designed to teach students how to provide more interesting writing by inviting the reader in to understand, instead of just telling what happens. After stating the "I can" statement, discussing what students are to learn, and the advantages of learning how to show in writing, the teacher will guide students through the gradual release method to get students to turn telling statements into full detailed showing passages. Students will also enjoy playing a game of showing emotions in their writing and having classmates guess which emotion was described.
Please see the preview of the lesson. The only slide missing (too much memory to show all) is the writing prompt––shown on the main page.
