Community Helpers is the perfect Social Studies unit to introduce your kiddos about the different jobs within a community that people do in order to help their community.

Pg. 3 - 10: 16 colored 1/2 sheet community helper pictures.

Pg. 11 - 18: 16 (same as above) black & white 1/2 community helper pictures.

Pg. 19 - 22: 16 1/4 sheet community helper job labels

Pg. 23 - 26: 16 1/4 sheet community helper job descriptions
* Use the picture - title - descriptions on a pocket chart for matching activities with kids*

Pg. 28 - 35: 8 Who works at the... pages: Students look at the building and then have to label and draw a picture of what community helper works in that building.

Pg. 37 - 44: Helpers Hats: Students look at the hat and figure out what community helper wears it. Then they label and draw that community helper under the hat.

Pg. 46 - 58: Community Helpers Tools: 13 different community helpers need to find their tools! Students draw or write the tools next to each community helper to show what they need in order to do their job.

Pg. 60 - 66: Community Helpers Vehicles: 7 different pages of vehicles. Students look at the vehicles and decide which community helper uses this vehicle to do their job. Students label and draw that community helper next to its vehicle.

Pg. 68 - 82: 15 different writing pages. Students write about what they would do to help the community if they held each different job of the community helper show.

Pg. 83: 1 blank sheet just like the above where student pick their own job, record it on the line and then tell about what they would do to help the community if they held that job

Pg. 85 - 88: 2 Matching and 2 cut and paste activities

Pg. 90 - 98: Community Helpers Write the Room: 16 picture cards (color and B&W) are taped around the room. Students match the number on the picture card to their number on their recording sheet. Using the word bank they select the name of the community helper and write it in the correct box.
** Also great for an independent center**
