Description
This resource is everything you need to set up an awesome volume and surface area project, just add students, cardboard and tape!!! Students will build a city and calculate the volume and surface area of each building. They must create prisms and pyramids to make their cities.
The project asks the students to plan and build a city with 3D shapes such as: rectangular prisms, triangular prisms, square-based pyramids and triangle based pyramids. The pack comes with editable options so that you can easily add cylinders, cones and spheres as well! The students will then calculate the surface area and volume of each building and put their results on a little flag on top. Perfect for display in any common area of the school or classroom!
This project is highly engaging and allows the students to discover 3D shapes as they never have before! I know I was surprised to hear so many students discussing measurements, 3D nets, and surface area in an authentic way and teaching each other as they went along.
