TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Currently I am third grade inclusion teacher working with students with autism, specific learning disabilities, and cognitive disabilities. I've also served a k-6 mild interventions teacher working with children with autism. As an employee of a special education co-op, I consult with general education and special education teachers to observe challenging students, provide visuals, and offer necessary support to students with autism. Previously, I was a kindergarten teacher for seven years in both Indiana and Wisconsin. I served as a developmental therapist in early intervention for infants through three-year-olds where I provided in home therapy for infants and toddlers with special needs.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I enjoy hands-on, fun learning. My experience has taught me that students learn best when being active, singing, and cooperating in team building activities. Managing challenging student behavior is my specialty and I've been called, "The queen of behavior management" by administrator.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Who’s Who Among Elementary Teachers; Distinguished Teacher Award, Mary E. White of Indiana State University; Graduated with honors, summa cum laude; Recipient of Indiana State University Academic Scholarship

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I am trained in TEACCH (Treatment and Education of Autistic and Communication related handicapped CHildren), STAR (Strategies for Teaching based on Autism Research), PECS (Picture Exchange Communication), TRIBES (Character Education Model) and CLASS (Character Education Model).

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
