Description

Use this writing center to help your students develop their creative writing skills! Students build a story by picking out a setting, character and event card and placing them on the writing center. Then they write a story about the cards using a vis-a-vis marker (or black dry erase marker) on the wipe off mat (extra writing pages are included for longer stories). Two versions of the center are included. One with dotted lines and one with plain lines. A reference page is also included with over 50 descriptive words for students to choose from to incorporate into their stories. There are 30 settings, 30 characters and 30 events to choose from. That's 27,000 possible story combinations!!! Each card is color-coded (settings = pink, characters = yellow, events = blue) and numbered for your convenience. Use a 9"x12" manila envelope with a clasp to store the center. There is also an optional recording page if you want to grade student responses. *Now includes black and white version of the recording pages and a page where students can draw a picture to go along with their story (CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.K.3, 1.3, 2.3 and 3.3). Encourage even your reluctant writers to independently engage in writing while inspiring creativity!
