Write the Music Room: Rhythm - Spring Set

This spring-themed Write the Room activity is a great way to add a little movement to your music lessons while having students practice notation and counting. Students will enjoy being free to move around the classroom to look for the cards! This activity can be done individually or with partners, and is easy to scaffold for different grades or skill levels.

Here's what's included:

• Version 1: Features quarter note, quarter rest, and eighth note rhythms
• Version 2: Features quarter note, quarter rest, eighth note, and sixteenth note rhythms
• Each version has a complete set of pages (traditional notation, stick notation, full color, and black and white)
• Teacher cards have both small and large versions, and double as answer keys.
• Three different answer sheets for stress free scaffolding (all in both color and black and white)

HOW TO 'WRITE THE MUSIC ROOM':

1. Print and cut out the teacher cards. Consider printing on cardstock and laminating for longevity if you plan to reuse them!

2. Decide what level of difficulty you need, then print the necessary cards and answer sheets. (Each set includes a variety of Student Answer Sheets making it easy to scaffold for a range of skill levels, familiarity, or class time).

3. Place the prepared cards around the room for students to find.

4. Students will search the room for the cards that match their answer sheets and fill in their sheets according to the instructions.
