What educators are saying

Gave good morning prompts to get my students writing each day. Some questions were more on point than others, but overall it's a great learning activity routine.
Perfect writing center! I printed a paper copy and popped it in a page protector. Prompts were switched out weekly. My fourth graders were very engaged.

Description

Looking for a way to engage your students in writing all year long? These fun and thought-provoking questions are just the thing to snag student attention and keep it! Would you rather have summer all year around or winter all year around? This is one of 20 questions in this packet that students will have to answer and support using details. These Would You Rather Writing Prompts are extremely engaging for students, while they work on the skills they need to support their writing!

Would You Rather Writing Prompts for 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th Grade | Writing Center Includes:

  • 20 Printable Writing Prompts
  • Directions for Use
  • Color-coding activity to follow writing

On each of the pages is a writing prompt, space for students to write, as well as a color coding activity that asks students to underline the topic sentence in blue, their three details in yellow, and their concluding sentence in blue. This helps students understand the pieces of a good paragraph and is a way for students to check to make sure that they actually included these pieces in their response. You can print this as a packet for students, or as individual pages. It's great for morning work, for centers, for writing instruction, or for homework!

We got these to use for these last few weeks of school where the students are so hard to keep engaged!  They have been having a blast writing their responses and sharing them with their peers!

⭐ My students really enjoyed using this resource. It can be done independently or as part of a lesson. I used this in conjunction with a whole class lesson and it worked really well!
