Trigonometric Ratios: 24 Task Cards
Description
Included in this set are 24 task cards that ask students to find trigonometric ratios, a recording sheet, and an answer key. These cards are NOT to scale! Each card has a picture of a right triangle. Students are asked to find a trig ratio using the information given.
There are multiple ways I use task cards in my classroom. Sometimes I have students pair up, sometimes I have students work alone. For this activity I would suggest having students sit in rows of 2. Each group should start out with a task card. After answering the question on the task card (should take 1-2 minutes) each group should stand up and scoot down to the next card. Cards should stay in their original spot the entire time! If you would prefer not to have your students move, you can have them pass the task cards, but personally I have found students get more excited about an activity when they are able to move around (even if they are just moving down 1 seat!).
There are 2 sets of the cards included. Each set has task cards with a colored border and task cards with just a black and white border. 1 set has QR codes, and 1 does not. QR codes are a great way for students to check their own work. Students can use a QR code scanner to scan the QR code which will show them the answer to the problem on the task cards. There are free QR code scanner apps available for download. I use the "ScanLife" on my android phone. ITunes also has many scanners available.
