Description

Students will read a passage on the Nuremberg Laws and anti-Semitism in Germany between the wars, a selection of the Nuremberg Laws and anti-Semitic measures, and answer 15 discussion questions. The reading passage and questions reference attitudes and events from 1930-1939.

This is suitable for a unit on Europe Between the Wars after Hitler's rise to power and the influence of the Great Depression on Germany have been discussed. Answers are not included because they will vary from student to student. This could work for a sub! See the preview for a closer look!

Sample discussion questions include:

--What was the purpose of the Nuremberg Laws?

--How did these make measures it even easier for the Holocaust to happen?

--Is it harder to be a victim, a bystander, or a perpetrator, and why? Was there a difference in being one of those 3 in 1934 versus in 1943?

--How could German-Jews protest or fight back against these measures?

--If the Depression hadn’t happened, do you think it would have been as easy for Germans to jump on the “anti-Jew” bandwagon? Why or why not?
