The Holocaust - Choice Menu Activities for ELA, History
Using this PDF & editable PowerPoint, students will complete sets of mini-research projects about the Holocaust. Students chose their mini-research projects from a menu of choice activities. You may assign a predetermined amount of points (say 30) and have students choose which assignments to complete to add up to the number of points, or you can have students choose an assignment per row or column. Since the menu also comes as an editable PowerPoint, you can change the directions, point values, and even the mini-research project choices themselves! Topics covered: Nazi Propaganda, Nazi Doctors, Anti-Semitism, Extermination Procedures, Nuremberg Laws, Anne Frank, European Maps, and Holocaust Timelines. A link is provided to a document that lists vetted Holocaust sites that students can visit to complete the choice menu activities.
I have used this Choice Menu successfully for the past three years as a precursor to our Holocaust unit. I have my students complete their choices in their Interactive Notebooks, which are some of their favorite pages.
