New additions (10/16/2020): Added Google Links to all products. These products are organized within a document that allows for ease of access. In addition, the product now has an improved outline for the year that shows teachers how the lessons progress, offers suggestions, and highlights assignments that pair well together. ** Important Note: When you first download the product, begin by opening the "BONUS FILE." Instructions for organizing the product are included within.**

These assignments are adaptable for junior high to high school students. The product features interactive PowerPoint/Google Slide presentations to allow both teacher input and student activity.

I have taught a variety of different college readiness courses the past 10 years, and this product is the culmination of years of work and experimentation with the curriculum.

Included in your purchase are over 50 interactive lesson presentations, nearly 2,000 slides of content, and over 60 free extras. These presentations are organized for you in a fashion where your ENTIRE year will be planned. *Note: While the units are all Google Slide compatible, the free extras are in PPT or Word. *

Included in these presentations are questions, activities, video clips, projects, papers, essays, debates, oral presentations, and more. It is all here!

The first presentation you will open will give detailed directions about how to best use the product. From there, the year is divided in 5 different units; each lesson within every unit is numbered so it is extremely easy to stay organized, know what to do next, and keep moving forward in a way where skills are building.

As a seller, I have thousands of reviews on Teacherspayteachers, and developing the content for a full year of college readiness has perhaps been my most thrilling and challenging task; I am confident the product will make your teaching experience a great one for both yourself and your students. This is the curriculum I currently use, and I enjoy doing my job every day because these lessons are targeted to engage students through fun, challenging, meaningful, interactive content that has an excellent balance of “teacher do” versus “student do.”

Below is an overview of the different folders included. Please make sure to download the preview file to see ALL of the content provided.

    • Unit 1, Foundations: This unit is designed to help you start the year with engagement while establishing certain activities and foundations that will be used throughout the entire year. The First Day (1A) and Get to Know You Game (2) offer the class a rousing beginning and a sense of a family atmosphere. The Assignment Sheets (1B) may be found with the free extras. From there, other foundations are established that will be used and emphasized throughout the duration of the year: Organization (4), Binder (5), Inquiry (6), and Tutorials (7A, 7B).

    • Unit 2, Communication: Unit 2 shifts to a theme of communication while advancing the foundations established in unit 1. Tutorials have begun, and binder checks are a regular part of the class. Small groups are established (1), notes are improved (2), and annotation of notes and texts is emphasized. The unit is anchored by establishing the process for successful Philosophical Chairs and Socratic Seminars (3, 5A, 5B). Finally, students further test their communication by presenting to their class or small groups (6). This presentation offers a nice transition to the next unit.

    • Unit 3, Growth Mindset and Individual Determination: By this point in the year students have begun to struggle in some of their classes. This unit redirects negative thoughts into a spirit of a key element of college readiness, perseverance. Students will first reflect (1), analyze how they can improve in difficult subjects (2), consider how they learn best (3), analyze their own communication (4), and reflect on successes and disappointments in the classroom (5). To end the unit students will then look to find areas where their process can change to create more success now and in the future (6, 7).

    • Unit 4, Leadership: Part of college readiness is about directing students to expect more from themselves. This unit does exactly that. Students are challenged to take on leadership responsibilities and the characteristics that make people successful. The unit begins with qualities of a leader (1) and an artistic exercise where students look beyond themselves (2). It then shifts to considering how leaders resolve problems to create solutions (3, 4). It then concludes with focusing on finding one’s true moral center, and a project connected to establishing our own framework for success later in life (5, 6A, 6B).

    • Unit 5, Careers and Colleges: The year finishes with students exploring colleges and careers. This unit includes a detailed, fun investigation of careers, majors, and colleges. Students will explore a variety of web sites, collecting information about themselves and different colleges. Every step is detailed for you in visuals, and links to websites are provided. There are many activities included, and it will help your students see clarity about their futures, whether they are younger or older.

    • Other Items: Also included in your purchase are 13 fun team building activities and a ton of free extras. All materials in the Extras Folder are included for FREE with your purchase and are meant to supplement the units listed above. This folder provides other fun opportunities for student engagement, including writing prompts and holiday-inspired materials.
