Description
In this game students pretend they have to buy $1,000,000 worth of art for their art museum. They must work together with a group to decide which pieces of art are the most important ones to add to their collection. In-depth discussion questions are included to get the students thinking deeply about the choices they are making when they purchase each artwork.
There are a variety of styles of artworks that students will see in this game including:
Ancient Egyptian
Abstract
Renaissance
American art
Sculpture
Impressionism and Post-Impressionism
Real-world museum problems are brought up such as attracting visitors to your museum, placement of objects in the museum, and transporting and protecting delicate artworks.
At the end of the game, there is a writing prompt.
A sheet of fake money is included. Print one sheet per group.
This game was designed for 5th graders but could be played with 4th-8th grade.
