    Description

Teaching STORY ELEMENTS in Fiction has never been easier than with these 5-day lesson plans! This is a BUNDLE of 6 week-long lesson study standards-based (both CCSS and TEKS) sets to teach fiction story elements of plot, character, setting, theme, conflict, and fictional narrative. These 6 individual literary element lesson packs will have your students learning about, discussing, and applying ideas throughout the course of five days (times 6...as there are 6 different lesson sets!) That is 30 LESSON PLANS for you to use in your classroom!

For each story element there are five classroom-tested lesson plans that detail everything you will need to do, STEP-BY-STEP, to teach your students about plot, setting, character traits, conflict, theme, and fictional narrative using the novels and stories you are already reading in your classroom.

There are also graphic organizers for each day so that your students are able to apply their learning to the novels and stories they are already reading! Each of these 30 lessons can be further applied to any novel study and will carry throughout the entire year.

For each of the 6 literary elements, the five days culminates in a written narrative paragraph with embedded plot, setting, character traits, conflict, theme, or fictional narrative, asking the students to take what they learned throughout the lesson set and apply it to writing a paragraph, which is something that is so important in these days of Common Core and high stakes testing. There is also a graphic organizer to help scaffold the writing for your students.

    Included in this BUNDLED resource:

    • 30 Days of Step-by-Step lesson plans
    • Interactive Notebook Pages
    • Anchor Chart with picture examples
    • Sorts, Diagrams, Charts, and other student printables
    • Mentor Texts (6 different stories) for dissecting story elements and structure
    • Writing frame for all 6 story elements

Once the lessons for each individual story element are completed, you will have 6 written paragraphs fit for display on a bulletin board! The students will be able to showcase their learning with a detailed, in depth writing about each of the various story elements, using evidence from text!

This classroom tested project is something I have used in my own classroom across multiple grade levels with great success. The students enjoyed the process of learning about the various story elements, creating their own drawings, dissecting mentor texts and then using those same ideas to a current classroom novel.

Prep is easy and painless. Everything you need to effectively teach your students about plot, setting, character traits, conflict, theme, and fictional narrative using novels and other classroom stories is here! These 6 mini-units are a great way to hit many different standards across the curriculum AND have a wonderful display of student written work.

    What others are saying...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Alana A. says, "This resource is a great supplement to our current curriculum. It is always nice to have supplemental resources to help fill gaps in student learning due to all of the changes in education over the last several years. This was great for our interactive notebook as well as providing a systematic structure that allowed each one of my students to be successful with each of the literary elements. Additionally, they were able to practice their essay writing. It was a lifesaver! "

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stephanie U. says, "The thing I like the most in this set is that the lessons are mini-lessons. I have 1 hour a 10 minutes a day for ELA and SS. (we rotate 3 times) I am constantly stopping in the middle of a lesson to have to continue with it the next day. Thank-you for a quality product that fits my schedule perfectly."

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Jason J. says, "This worked well in the past for my fifth graders and now it worked well this year with my third graders. A lot more clear than using the district text. Great along with read aloud and book clubs too!"

Though buying through the bundle results in a significant discount on the individual sets (you are basically getting one set free in the bundle!), you can purchase each of the individual lesson sets here:
