What educators are saying

I loved this project. I assigned it during distance learning. Students came up with some fantastic projects and I enjoyed learning from them!
This is a great resource, not too overwhelming and an easy way for students to build on background knowledge and passions. Thank you!

Description

Engage your students with open-ended, student led and guided Teach Me Something projects! Odds are, your students are very used to being told what to do every part of their day. When they are assigned a project, task, or other piece of work, the students are usually given the exact parameters with which to complete it. It is just the way that most projects seem to pan out. Well, this project is a bit different. The Teach Me Something projects are open-ended in nature, allowing the students to create any tangible final product they would like that fall under the umbrella of a certain topic. The students are given a general rubric to help guide them towards quality work, but are not told what or how to create. That is all up to the student.

Included in this resource:

  • LESSON PLANS to help you get your students going on this project
  • Informational Sheet for your student laying out the guidelines of the project
  • Grading Rubric for the final project
  • Listening and Speaking Rubric for the presentation
  • Check-in forms to monitor progress along the way
  • Oral presentation active listening forms
  • 18 PREMADE Topic Information Sheets to use with your students
  • EDITABLE student forms to CUSTOMIZE the project for your class (housed on Google Slides, so these forms can be pushed out to your students on Google Classroom!)
  • DIGITAL Google Slides for all pieces you would assign your students

At first, this type of project can be VERY challenging for the students. They are just not used to open-ended creativity. They will push back a bit. But once the students get going, the final projects are truly outstanding, creative, and unique! Your students will love doing these classroom tested projects, as they get to be creative and guide their own learning.

Prep is easy and painless. Everything you need for a winning Teach Me Something project is here! This student decided project is a great way to hit many different standards across the curriculum AND have a wonderful display of student work. A grading rubric (on a 4 point scale) is included to help you assess the final products your students create.

What others are saying...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Anjali K. says, "I always love to "turn the tables" in the spring and let the kids teach ME something they're an expert in, and this resource made that really accessible and easy and FUN for the kids and easy for me to prep for them. Might start integrating this earlier in the year and continuing throughout too."

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Melanie V. says, "My students had so much fun with this activity! I used it at the end of the year when they were more comfortable with each other and I was amazed at the variety of things that they taught the class! Even the ones who thought they weren't good at anything were able to find something that worked for them. "

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Shantrell Cook says, "I tried something like this last year, and my parents seemed to freak out more than my students. Lol. I appreciate your product because it gives me more of a template to work with and printouts to share with students and their families. I did not want to give up on my open-concept projects. So I was super excited to find this product to help me better articulate guidelines to my students and their families. Thank you:)"
