This unit is for a level 4 or above due to the language in the film. We recommend getting a permission slip before using it in your classroom. If you are an AP teacher or on the AP track, we included a cultural comparison and a persuasive essay assessment to help students prepare for the exam. Another bonus is that even though the film is comprehensified, many authentic resources are included to create a large unit on the scarcity of water!

Before we teach this film we teach the legend of Abuela Grillo. After viewing the film students are able to make a lot of comparisons between the Bolivian legend and the film. You can find the legend here

Another legend that we analyzed about Bolivia was La flor de cantu. It was perfect to introduce the unit since it is a legend of the Aymara people who are in the film of "También la lluvia". You can find this legend here
