Description

You've heard of STEAM and STEM, but how about STREAM? The 'R' stands for reading and is such an important part of our day! In these activities, we are linking STEAM projects to a read aloud. This pack is dedicated to the picture book, "If I Built a Car," by Chris Van Dusen.

In this pack, there is everything you need to link the story to multiple areas. Begin by reading the story to your students. Kids are never too old to be read to, and this book is so much fun!

Included in the pack:

  • Ideas on how to integrate into engineering, science, math, reading, and writing.
  • Two articles about cars. These are articles show bias and are persuasive in nature. Students then compare the articles to form their own opinion writing.
  • Math word problem activity.
  • Engineering project.
  • STEAM Bucks to help students learn math while completing their engineering project.
  • Reflection pages for students

Your kids will have a blast with this book and the activities included here. There is enough included where you could focus on this book for an entire day OR you could come back to this a few times during the week. Because multiple subjects are integrated into this pack, you will find many ways to use the contents.

Have fun with this STREAM project! I know your kiddos will.

Happy Teaching!
