What educators are saying

I love this poem. I used this resource with my GT students. Great critical thinking/interpreting activity.

Description

This is a cute little story about a class fieldtrip to The Statue of Liberty. Once there, they read "The New Colossus" poem by Emma Lazarus. The day after, the students researched the poet, and the text tells us what they found out. After reading this story your students will be able to complete the puzzle. As they answer the 6 questions, they have to put a letter into each of the 6 blocks.
If their answers are all correct, they have solved the puzzle. This activity is self-checking. It could also be used as an effective springboard to a web quest about Emma Lazarus, The Statue of Liberty or both.
