Description
Spring & Easter are a perfect time to teach an engaging nonfiction unit ALL ABOUT RABBITS! This resource covers multiple informational text/writing skills.
The unit includes:
-Nonfiction vs. Fiction: Double Bubble map to compare/contrast fiction vs. nonfiction.
-Text Features: posters + a text feature sort! Students will match the name of the text feature to the definition and a picture. These include rabbits to go with the theme!This can be used in a center all year long!
-Close Reading Strategies: Includes a close read check list book mark, a 2 page passage about rabbits with several text features, and text dependent questions where students will use evidence from the text to answer questions.
-Main Idea & Key Detail: Students will use graphic organizer to find the main idea and key/supporting details for each section. This will prepare them for summarizing!
-Summarizing: Students will use graphic organizer to summarize the article by finding the main idea and key details of each section. After complete the graphic organizer, students will write a summary. Differentiated to include a paragraph or essay version!
-Informative Writing: Students will be guided through the structure of informative writing using a graphic organizer, then complete a paragraph or essay on rabbits. This can be based on their own research, or using the passage included in this unit!
