Chemical Science Foundation // Properties of Materials Activity Pack //
This pack is intended to supplement your foundation chemical science unit when learning about the different properties of materials.
It contains a variety of properties of materials posters and activities that aim to support hands on discovery based learning.
These Properties of Materials activities and resources are specifically designed for the foundation level in the Chemical Science Understanding of the Australian Curriculum.
Resources and Activities Include:
- chemical science foundation level classroom posters (properties of materials)
- discussion charts
- visual displays
- properties of materials sorting mats
- properties of materials word wall
- picture sorting cards (hot and cold clothing, properties of materials)
- fun science learning centre activities (see preview images)
- properties of buildings and shelters
- properties of clothing task cards and activities
- traditional clothing task card and posters
- fun bubble investigation focusing on science inquiry skills
- flip flap informal assessment activities to use at the end of the unit
Please note: The activities in this pack do not include a sequential lesson sequence as I believe that it is important to tailor your program to the unique needs of every classroom. For this reason, there are a range of different activities included that cover the foundation chemical science understandings.
Chose those that you think are most relevant and would be of most interest to the children you teach. The pack also includes many posters and charts, you do not need to use all - simply print those that are of most relevance for your students.
This pack includes both posters, printables and activity task cards that can be easily prepped and set up as a science learning centeractivity area. Alternatively, the task card printables make a great visual for education assistants, parent helpers of volunteers as they have clear instructions and I can statements for the children.
