Proof - Logic - Unit Two: Proof and Logic #1: Reasoning and Conjectures (w/ counterexamples) Notes and Assignment

This is the first set of notes for the Proof and Logic Unit of a High School Geometry Class.

It includes three parts:

1. Annotated Teachers Notes and Homework Answer Key These include the notes with some sections annotated with teaching suggestions and the homework answer key completely solved.

2. A non-annotated Teachers Notes. This is great for projection using interactive projectors, smart boards or other projection devices.

3. Student Notes and Homework Assignment The student notes have blanks for the students to fill-in as they follow along and participate in the lesson.

This is a comprehensive way to continue a new unit! It covers the concepts of:
1. What is reasoning?
2. Inductive vs. Deductive Reasoning
3. Creating Conjectures from patterns, diagrams and statements
4. What is a counterexample?
5. Determining if a conjecture is true from a given statement (and giving a counterexample if it is false).

The examples and the assignment practice all of the main concepts presented.
