What educators are saying

My students loved reading the quotes and watercolor painting them. Their artwork was displayed in the hallway. It was enjoyed and complemented by all.

Description

Women's History Month is such an important time to teach students the power of equality and the importance of speaking out (not just in March, but all year long). This activity is meant to help students understand that their voices can make a difference and that we ALL play a part in ensuring that women have an equal voice in our country and our world.

This activity is meant to be a mix of art, artistic representation, as well as one to show students the powerful words of powerful women around the world. There are 18 quotes included in this pack, which should help empower and give strength to all!

The boys in my class asked "why isn't there a men's history month?" This activity is an answer to that. I need my boys (and all third graders) to understand why we celebrate women, their accomplishments, and why we need to continue the fight for equal rights!

In order to use this activity as intended, you will need watercolors, brushes, and cardstock. You will have students design a background for on cardstock (see examples). After these are completely dry, you can print the quotes on top of the art that students made. This activity is meant to show that words can help change the world, but also that art can also play a part in this. Students will also see the beauty that they can make and bring to our world.

This is a VERY simple art project, but the finished pieces turn out brilliantly.

Please share your pictures of your finished products online and tag Mr. Mault's Marketplace on either IG or FB! I would so appreciate seeing your final projects.

Enjoy!
