Recycling E-Waste: : A Persuasive Writing Prompt
Description
Students will first find out what a claim is, then read an article, an infographic, read student voices, fill in organizers, and write a persuasive essay about each of the topics.
The three prompts included here are as follows:
- Should Fortnite Be Banned? A Persuasive Writing Prompt
- Should Schools Allow Classroom Pets: A Persuasive Writing Prompt
- Should Schools Give Homework?: A Persuasive Writing Prompt
This pack fully explores each of the topics, while asking students to make their own determination on the topic based on the evidence provided.
- Students will then use the graphic organizer provided to write down notes and plan their essay stating their own claim.
- Students will then begin to plan a writing piece where they will take a stand, making their own claim using specific details from the texts they read.
- This activity allows students to read articles, while practicing using text details to support their claim, a common core writing standard.
