Description

Performance Tasks on the State Tests are some of the most difficult things to teach. The students know all of the subject matter, yet putting it all together into one cohesive writing piece is so difficult. That is where this Performance Task Practice Lessons for Narrative set comes in! This exciting practice set for the Performance Task is the perfect way to get your students learning how read informational sources, plan a narrative essay, and answer text-dependent questions.

In this resource you will find a complete Performance Task assignment with lesson plans that guide the students through writing a narrative story based upon informational text about blizzards. Students will start by analyzing a narrative writing prompt (“Write a narrative about a person who is trapped inside during a blizzard”) and then create an anchor chart of requirements from that prompt. Next, they will read sources that provide information on both surviving a blizzard and the tools that are used to measure blizzard weather conditions. Using these sources, students will answer text-based questions that require referring to the sources. The students will take notes, plan, and draft a full narrative based upon the prompt and sources.

  • FOUR Step-by-Step lesson plans
  • Informational Text Sources about Blizzards
