What educators are saying
Description
This is not your typical presentation for the Latinx/Hispanisc Heritage Month or biography bundle. Although you can complement those fact sheets and bio bundles with this presentation.
This presentation was created with an ABAR/decolonial lens, students and teachers are invited to engage in a critical thinking process and discussions about identity markers, misconceptions and white-washed tokenizing narratives of the celebration.
This presentation was created with comprehension in mind so it's very simple and full of images. There are some slides (like the map) that give the freedom for teachers to discuss that topic in a way that resonates with their classes.
In fact, most of the slides are an invitation to teachers to go deeper or keep it simple, and scaffold the presentation their own way.
The PDF has 25 slides with high-quality, appealing images that can carry their own sets of discussions as well. When you click on the “tu puedes hacerlo” on the last slide, the link will take you to the song Latinoamerica by Calle 13 with English subtitles.
I had the most prolific conversation about identity, indigenous representation and art with my 4th graders after watching the video. They loved it!

PS2: You should all check the identity charts and the chapter about identity in @teachandtransform ‘s book! ♥️
