What educators are saying

Fun activity, my kids loved seeing it come together as a whole diorama. I did add little paper Viking characters for my students to make (we didn't have the action figures).
Very detailed, students must use precision when cutting out and putting together. They did love their finished projects and were proud of their work!

Description

Build your very own Viking ship! In fact, build your very own Viking fleet and village!

For many years, I have wracked my brain in search of an interesting craft project to supplement our "Viking" unit in Social Studies. Unfortunately, the price of model Viking ships range somewhat on the expensive side - and needless to say, I was not about to purchase two dozen of them!

But what to do? What to do? The idea tugged and nagged and haunted me until I could stand it no longer!

Thus finally, through sheer necessity, I created a printable template of not only a miniature Viking ship, but also a miniature Viking house. Once we had these, the collective imagination of our class could begin to run wild. In the end, the children not only built Viking ships and houses, but an entire landscape as well.

Included in this packet are 2 reproducible templates for the Viking house (one sheet for the walls and a second sheet for the roof.) In addition, there are 4 templates for the Viking ship (sail, mast, dragon's head and tail, and hull and shields.) I have also included two pages of detailed instructions, as well as a few photographs of our class Viking diorama to serve as a means of reference as well as a possible catalyst for ideas of your own.

Each template is rendered in black and white, thereby allowing for stark, clean, crisp copies every time. Your children will have to color them with crayons and/or markers, thereby personalizing their individual work in the process.

As always, I appreciate you taking the time to preview this product - or any of my products - and hope it will prove to be of benefit to you and your students for many years to come.

Lastly, If you enjoyed this product and found it useful, please take a moment or two to leave feedback or click "Like." I'd really appreciate it!

Once again, thank you!
