Memorial Day Close Read Using Song Lyrics: If You're Reading This by Tim McGraw

I think in this day and age, we need to try to instill values and patriotism in our students more than ever. This project is perfect if you are looking to make an impact on students and to ensure that they always remember what Memorial Day is about.

This packet includes a close read of the song lyrics "If You're Reading This," by Tim McGraw. There is also a quick one page summary on the history of Memorial Day, along with 10 close read questions based on the text and 5 graphic organizers to deepen student understanding of theme, mood, vocabulary, as well as simply analyzing text.

PLEASE understand that this project/activity can be a tough one to approach with students. Please make sure your students can handle the content included in this packet.
