Description
Need a simple way to introduce or review book genres, bibliography format, and library skills? Students identify general traits for a specific book genre then compare the list of traits to a class novel or any book you are reading in class with this library resource. Students then extend the learning by finding a book of the same genre in the library. Students complete a few simple tasks after locating the new book like reading the jacket summary and finding the call number and publisher.
There are extension activities for the Dewey Decimal system and bibliographies.
It is a great activity to use throughout the school year. It can be adapted to any genre or style of book you teach. It also generates free reading book ideas for kids!
