These NO-PREP reading passages and questions are perfect tools to build your Chinese learners’ character recognition, vocabulary, reading comprehension, fluency, and critical thinking.

• Different Genres 不同题材和主题

This includes ten different passages and a table of contents page. It has four nonfiction passages, five fiction passages, and one poem. Fiction passages include realistic fiction and fable.

• Learn Characters and Words in a Context 在语境中学习汉字和词语

It is vital to introduce and practice Chinese characters n context. Students will understand the meanings of the characters with clear visuals and structured practice.

• Differentiation  个性化选择

Two different versions included: Pinyin, and words only. You can choose what works best for your students based on their needs. We also recommend you can use them in combination so that it will promote students’ phonics skills and character recognition simultaneously.

• Building Upon the Four Modalities: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing 建立听说读写的连接

Each passage includes multiple reading comprehension questions. Formats are varied: multiple-choice, drawing/writing responses, speaking responses, and matching questions. 

• Vocabulary with Visuals 重体词语配生动插图

All passages are picture-integrated to promote vocabulary building. Three key vocabularies with picture definitions are selected at the bottom to support comprehension.

• Developing Fluency 建立阅读流利度

Each passage has three "stars" on top. These are for promoting fluency. Each time students read the passage, they color a star.
