What educators are saying
If you have to use Lucy, this works very well with that unit. A kid-friendly, easy-to-use graphic organizer that guides the student's thoughts easily.
I used this while teaching in a co-op setting. We used this in conjunction with an experiment to test how much bacteria grew on samples from unwashed and washed hands. The handout was a perfect fit! And I like that we will be able to use it again in the future.
Description
I made this lab report to supplement the 2nd grade Unit 2 Science Labs and Informational Writing unit in the Lucy Calkins series. I felt that a form provided a good scaffold for the scientific process to writers who needed it. It follows the format of a good science lab report: 1. Hypothesis 2.Materials 3. Procedure (with space for drawing) 4. Results (with space for drawing) and 5. Conclusion. This fosters inquiry and problem solving skills and is perfect for individual or partner experiments!
