The scope and sequence is based on what I have experienced with my 8th grade students. My students are typically highly motivated and have very high standardized test scores. This curriculum can and has been used for high school or very high achieving 6th and 7th grade students. However, I also have a population of English as a second language students that do well because it is hands-on, inquiry based with tons of visuals, word banks and scaffolds for success with all learning styles.

This Middle School NGSS Integrated MEGA Bundle is a Growing Bundle, meaning that if you buy it now at a discounted price, you will be able to continually receive new products for free that are added as the price increases! I taught this course since the 2018/2019 school year and it has been the best teaching I’ve done in my 20+ year career!!!

“These investigations are great! Also, easily adaptable to suit younger children or older!”

“Honestly the content here is as good as it gets for approach-ability, accuracy, and student engagement from what I've used. I really hope this library continues to expand as it is unparalleled in its execution.”

“Well worth the cost!! I am in a new state with common core which I've never taught with before. Our Science curriculum at my new school is basically non-existent. Having all of this work done for me and organized is amazing!! Thank you so much!!!”

“What a great bundle to add to my science curriculum that keeps the students engaged! Can't wait to use it this coming school year!”

“I really appreciate this curriculum - I am so thankful to have it as I will be teaching in a self-contained classroom (all subjects). I really appreciate that the curriculum will be/ is aligned with NGSS. This bundle certainly will help keep students engaged!”

“This resource has been great since I've returned to work from maternity leave! I appreciate the wide assortment of activities as well as the fact that it's a growing bundle. Thank you for sharing!!”

Aside from 40+ hands-on labs, this bundle includes Science Doodles, PowerPoints and scaffolded notes, board games, computer simulations, stop motion movies the students can make, assessments for each unit, project based assessments, worksheets, virtual graphing, card sorts, claim evidence reasoning (CER) charts and articles, Kahoot reviews, Quizlet Reviews, Bill Nye questions, graphic organizers, all with very detailed teacher notes and keys. I also add close readings to the beginning of many lessons and online resources the students can find in case a book is not available.

My district has chosen the state preferred integrated model, so moving forward the curriculum I create will be mainly integrated. The lessons that are in the growing bundle have been modified for NGSS and made three dimensional by adding as many Science and Engineering Practices and Cross Cutting Concepts as are applicable to that lesson. I have also created many 5E lessons that contain the three dimensions of learning that NGSS requires. I will say that my district (SDUHSD) is way ahead of the curve when it comes to NGSS and I attend every NGSS leadership conference I can.

This Growing MEGA Bundle comes with every Scientific Method, Physics, STEM, 5E, Evolution, Waves, Magnetism and Astronomy lesson I have in my Teachers Pay Teachers store. These lessons are engaging, meaningful, hands on, fun and some of the most memorable lessons your students will ever experience. The lessons are differentiated for ALL LEARNERS, including modified lessons and modified assessments for Special Ed. and English Language Learners.

    NGSSMS-ESS1-4
Construct a scientific explanation based on evidence from rock strata for how the geologic time scale is used to organize Earth’s 4.6-billion-year-old history. Emphasis is on how analyses of rock formations and the fossils they contain are used to establish relative ages of major events in Earth’s history. Examples of Earth’s major events could range from being very recent (such as the last Ice Age or the earliest fossils of homo sapiens) to very old (such as the formation of Earth or the earliest evidence of life). Examples can include the formation of mountain chains and ocean basins, the evolution or extinction of particular living organisms, or significant volcanic eruptions. Assessment does not include recalling the names of specific periods or epochs and events within them.
    NGSSMS-ESS3-2
Analyze and interpret data on natural hazards to forecast future catastrophic events and inform the development of technologies to mitigate their effects. Emphasis is on how some natural hazards, such as volcanic eruptions and severe weather, are preceded by phenomena that allow for reliable predictions, but others, such as earthquakes, occur suddenly and with no notice, and thus are not yet predictable. Examples of natural hazards can be taken from interior processes (such as earthquakes and volcanic eruptions), surface processes (such as mass wasting and tsunamis), or severe weather events (such as hurricanes, tornadoes, and floods). Examples of data can include the locations, magnitudes, and frequencies of the natural hazards. Examples of technologies can be global (such as satellite systems to monitor hurricanes or forest fires) or local (such as building basements in tornado-prone regions or reservoirs to mitigate droughts).
    NGSSMS-ETS1-2
Evaluate competing design solutions using a systematic process to determine how well they meet the criteria and constraints of the problem.
    NGSSMS-LS4-3
Analyze displays of pictorial data to compare patterns of similarities in the embryological development across multiple species to identify relationships not evident in the fully formed anatomy. Emphasis is on inferring general patterns of relatedness among embryos of different organisms by comparing the macroscopic appearance of diagrams or pictures. Assessment of comparisons is limited to gross appearance of anatomical structures in embryological development.
    NGSSMS-LS4-1
Analyze and interpret data for patterns in the fossil record that document the existence, diversity, extinction, and change of life forms throughout the history of life on Earth under the assumption that natural laws operate today as in the past. Emphasis is on finding patterns of changes in the level of complexity of anatomical structures in organisms and the chronological order of fossil appearance in the rock layers. Assessment does not include the names of individual species or geological eras in the fossil record.
