Description
Do your students have difficulty finding imagery in poems or identifying the sensory language in poems? This resource is a great introductory sensory language lesson with three options for independent student activities.
Option 1:
- Use the cards as a “Card Layout Work.” This means that students will use this as a Montessori or table work. The cards will be printed, cut, and laminated by the teacher.
- Students take the laminated cards and sort them on a rug or table based on their categories.
- Students may use the ”Answer Key” to independently check their work.
- If all cards are correctly sorted, students complete a written follow-up using one of the worksheets provided.
- This option allows the teacher to use this work again and again.
Option 2:
- Students use the work titled “Sensory Language Foldable Tabs” to create an interactive notebook activity in their journals.
- Students cut out the foldable tabs and glue one side of each tab to their journal.
- Next, students use the word bank page provided with 30 words to sort the sensory language into each of the correct categories.
Option 2:
- Use the sorting cards as interactive journal work.
- Students are given the “5 Senses Pockets for Sorting” pages and the pages of the sorting card. You can print the cards as is or print them as 2 slides per page. I prefer regular size because they stay in the pockets better.
- Students cut and glue the pockets into their journals.
- Students cut the sorting cards and tuck them into the correct pocket using their interactive notebooks.
This Resource Includes:
- Student-Sized “Imagery Anchor Chart” for Journal
