Description
This material is tailored to provide a unique learning experience for Ontario's Cell Science Unit students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), moving away from the conventional question-and-response method. My product is designed with grade 8 level content but offers reduced and simplified expectations to make it more accessible.
EXAMPLES OF MODIFICATIONS
Topics like permeability exclude complex terms like osmosis and diffusion. Similarly, I only discuss essential organelles to highlight their differences when exploring plant and animal cells. The language is uncomplicated, and I use the LEXEND font for enhanced readability.
QR CODES, EMBEDDED LINKS, AND ACTIVITIES
Additionally, I've embedded links for key terms directing relevant articles and included engaging activities such as word searches, crossword-like exercises, and experiments for both school and home settings. To supplement the learning experience, numerous QR codes connect to videos to further explore the topics. My resources are designed to be clean and uncluttered, reducing student intimidation.
GOAL
One of my primary goals is to ensure the material doesn't resemble typical IEP resources, avoiding situations where students feel alienated due to childlike visuals or lower grade indications. All assignments include clear expectations and suggestions for completion.
AUDIO FILES
An AI text-to-speech file accompanies each chapter and experiment, reinforcing students' understanding of the material.
✬This Unit has 5 Chapters:
Chapter 1: Cells, What Are They?
Chapter 2: Animal and Plant Cells
Chapter 3: In and Out of Cells
Chapter 4: Multicellular and Unicellular Organisms
Chapter 6: Organ Systems
This resource covers the following learning expectations:
B2.1 – Demonstrating a grasp of cell theory
B2.1 – Identifying organelles and their basic functions (chloroplast, cell wall, cell membrane)
B2.5 – Comprehending the distinction between unicellular and multicellular organisms
B2.6 – Concentrating on essential organs rather than an in-depth study of organs, tissues, and systems
I hope this resource provides your students with an enriching and enjoyable learning experience.
