Description

You'll ‘score' with this set of two winning lessons that combine geometry, art, and soccer!

Kids of all ages love soccer, and they love being able to draw things that look realistic. So, they will be naturally motivated with this fun mix of soccer, math, and art! They will learn how easy it is to draw a soccer ball using lines and simple geometric shapes.... including one surprising shape you might not expect! And no rulers are necessary!

This 25-page pdf is the combination of two separate step-by-step tutorials, one for guiding beginning artists as young as Kindergarten in how to draw a very simple soccer ball, and another tutorial for older students who want to draw a more realistic-looking, three-dimensional soccer ball.

For younger students or emerging artists, 'How to Draw a Soccer Ball for Beginning Artists' includes a handy reference sheet with all the step-by-step photos you'll need on one page. It also offers full page one-step-at-a-time illustrations that you can print out, laminate, and hang up for students to refer to as they work. This is an easy method to use for decorating soccer ball cookies and cupcakes, too! Because drawing a star is an important step in drawing a soccer ball, I also include my “How to Draw a Star” one-step-at-a-time diagrams to print out and laminate.

For older students, “How to Draw a Soccer Ball for Grades 2 and Up’ is a more advanced tutorial for drawing a soccer ball that looks more realistic and three-dimensional. It includes plenty of step-by-step photos, detailed explanations, and helpful tips for success with any drawing project. Students will complete their drawing with shading and a shadow on the ground for a truly realistic-looking soccer ball!

Both tutorials include a page of math vocabulary (polygon, pentagon, hexagon, and more), plus how to find math on a soccer ball! Students of all ages benefit when they learn to recognize math at work in everyday life.

Drawing is an important life skill that enables us to become better communicators at home, at school, and at work. Anyone can learn to draw! When students learn to draw something they’re really proud of, it boosts their self-esteem and motivates them to keep learning.

Both of these 'How to Draw a Soccer Ball’ tutorials are great to pull out on the first day of class or the last day of school…. or anytime in between when you want a one-session project with minimal prep that your students will be truly excited about!
