They provide opportunities for students to develop skills in logical thinking, problem-solving, making inferences, drawing conclusions, recognizing similarities and differences, and comparing and contrasting while reinforcing both reading (using picture and context clues) and math skills (ordinal positions, greater than and less than, time, size comparisons).
