This classic Fall / Autumn - themed word work game makes practicing sight words, letters, or spelling words engaging & exciting! It's a year-round, zero-prep / zero-maintenance, trustworthy word work resource my students LOVE playing and don't get tired of.
How to Play: Kids work independently and just roll a dice, write the word in the blank, and watch their words "race" to see which one will make it to the top first! I model how it goes once in awhile and really hype up how exciting & suspenseful it is to cheer for the word you want. :) If they finish fast, they can let the words "keep playing for 2nd and 3rd place, etc."

Timing: It usually takes my kindergarteners 10-15 minutes to play a game... perfect to keep them learning & working while I'm meeting with a reading group.
Ideas: This is truly one of my student's favorite weekly word work activities, but it would also be great as homework or for any sort of additional practice one-on-one or in a small group.
3 EASY options for adding words to the bottom row:
1. Type in the ones you want on Google Slides (link included) and print.
2. Print the blank PDF version (included), handwrite words in, and make copies.
3. Print the blank PDF version and have kids write in their own words.
