Keep your energy and momentum going through the end of the year with this interactive, fun new twist on a last day of school countdown: famous last lines. The end of the year is the perfect time to analyze and discuss CONCLUSIONS and ENDINGS, so why not look at some of the most carefully crafted last lines from novels and films? Starting with 20 school days remaining, lead your class (or, better yet, choose a student!) through a quick activity each day as they rip off one piece of the chain, share the famous last line quote, and analyze it as a mentor text. A distance learning/digital option is also available and can be used through Google Slides. Pick and choose the order that you'd like to use with the quotes in any order you choose.

*Note: This product DOES NOT have to be used for only a countdown. The document has the countdown page and last lines pages separated, so you are welcome to ignore the countdown aspect and simply use these twenty examples of last lines for analysis purposes!

- A PDF of the paper chain: one side has the number of days remaining and the other has the famous last line. Print back to back, cut strips, and assemble chain
- A GOOGLE SLIDE template to use for distance learning instead of the paper chain option. All countdown days and quotes are interchangeable as stickers.
- A GOOGLE SLIDE for students to write their own famous last line to their school year
- An EDITABLE Google Doc for students to keep track of each famous line, analyze tone, imagery, metaphor, and conclusion style. Students may use these notes to help them compose their own final line.
