Description

Diego Rivera Art Activities - Collaborative posters of famous paintings for group art activities. Students work in groups to create a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. Students can collaborate on color choices when working in smaller groups. Great activity for the classroom, after-school art programs, summer camps, and even family nights! Many different paintings to choose from.

Sometimes making a collaborative poster with an entire class can be challenging. I know I always struggled with finding a place to hang it! Reducing the number of pieces for smaller groups allows the students to have more input into color and design choices. This set comes in 2 versions: 9 pages and 16 pages.

Assign the same painting to different groups and admire the differences or give each group a different painting.

Directions for Use in the Classroom:

These smaller collaborative posters are easy for students to assemble because there are only 9 or 16 pages and they can easily match the original painting. They don’t usually need directions or a guide like larger, class-sized, posters. Below are some ways you can use them in your classroom:

1, Display the original painting and have the students use the colors as a guide. The results will be a close match to the original painting.

2. Assign the pieces to a group of 3 or 4 students and have them create their own color scheme. Try giving a group of 3 students the 9-piece poster and let them collaborate on which colors to use. They will each color 3 pieces. For an entire class, you will get a lot of posters, each with its own color palette. This will lead to very unique posters in the classroom for each group.

3. Try a monochromatic poster. Have the students use only shades of blue, or red, or purple. These too will yield unique posters.

4. Use pop art patterns and colors to really create some great posters. Have the teams add patterns, words, and bright colors to make these paintings pop!
