Color Chord-inated CHRISTMAS CAROLS for Bells (or Boomwhackers)

This set of Color Chord-inated Christmas Carols, arranged for bells (or boom pipes) includes both chord accompaniments and melodies on staff for these favorite carols: Silent Night, Joy to the World, Away in a Manger and Coventry Carol. Detailed instructions and Color Chord-inated staff & chord charts are also included. These slides may be projected or color printed.

The chordal arrangements are designed to enable students to sing while accompanying themselves. The melodies on the staff are simple and may be played as an instrumental stand-alone piece or as an instrumental interlude combined with singing and chords. Melodies can also be played by one group (on bells, Boomwhackers, or recorders) while another group plays the chords.

Children and adults alike enjoy instant success when playing these songs, which are appropriate for secular school programs that include a variety of traditional holiday music, Christian-school, home-school, or church worship settings. Having performers "ooo" the melody with the chord accompaniments is very effective (and may be more appropriate for secular school settings).

Give one bell, chime or boom pipe to each student and explore the chords, helping them identify which chords their notes belong to and when they should and should not play. Practice individual chords to a steady beat; then practice chord changes and add singing. If you have resonator bells (individual tone bells) or chimes that are not color coded, you can apply colored stickers to the resonator boxes.

Because the notes "G, A and B" are not exactly the same for Boom-whackers® and KidsPlay Hand Bells, I have included letter names in the note heads on the title pages and colored the notes a shade between the two.
