Description

Butterfly Collaboration Poster—Pop Art Style! This art activity is intended to complement/supplement any lessons, activities, or celebrations for spring! It also makes a great social emotional learning or calming coloring activity for your classroom.

This coloring activity is great as a calming activity. Artistic activities such as sculpting, painting, drawing, or coloring lower stress levels and promote calmness. It’s been shown to help people, kids especially, deal with challenging emotions like anxiety. Art can also help young people grow in confidence and develop social skills.

This collaborative poster is the perfect way to start a unit or cap one-off. It is an engaging and entertaining way for students to create a large poster as a class.

The final poster makes a great classroom focal point and a lasting example of collaboration for your students—not to mention that it makes a bright and beautiful display for your door, bulletin board, or hallway!

There are two options, so you can choose what works best for you and your students. Both options are very easy. Each student is given one page of the poster to color. Once all sheets are colored and cut out, they are then assembled to reveal a large collaboration mosaic/poster/mural of a Pop Art Butterfly.

Poster #1: The colors have been assigned. Students will follow the colors assigned using a color key on each page.

Poster #2: The colors have NOT been assigned. Let your students color the poster whatever colors they want (or that you assign).

POSTER DETAILS

Poster Option #1: For this poster option, you will need crayons, colored pencils, or markers in light blue, blue, orange, purple, yellow, green, and pink. Any area without an assigned color is meant to be left blank.

  • There are 30 pieces.
  • Each piece fits on 8.5" x 11" standard copy paper.
  • The finished poster makes a 5 x 6 grid.
  • The final poster measures approximately 35” x 42,” but the exact size depends on your printer options.

Bonus Pop Art Interactive Coloring Page + Writing Prompts

Group collaboration posters are a lot of fun and leave a lasting impression. However, students don’t get to walk away with anything tangible to show their families. I have included a bonus coloring sheet and a writing prompt for your students, so they have something to keep. These are also great for early finishers.

I have many coloring sheets in this style. You can see them in my store HERE.
