Description

These Classroom Hand Signal Posters are part of a new RETRO GROOVY decor theme! This color scheme, font, and clipart images will be used throughout the upcoming RETRO GROOVY decor products. There are a lot of simple posters offered in this pack, however, so if you are not following the Retro Groovy Decor, this will work for your classroom, too!

There are 6 different types of posters to choose from:

  1. Simple: Full-page posters with a black-and-white border
  2. RETRO GROOVY Theme: Full-page posters with child-friendly font and an orange and yellow lava lamp pattern in the background.
  3. RETRO GROOVY Theme: Full-page posters with Retro font and an orange and yellow lava lamp pattern in the background.
  4. Full Retro Themed: Full-page posters with more retro clipart on them and groovy font.
  5. Visual Aid Clipart: Full-page posters with an additional clipart image to help struggling readers. These are available in the simple and the first three retro groovy themes, as well as the circles (see below). The following words have this clipart: pencil, sit, stand, tissue, toilet, restroom, bathroom, wash, and water.
  6. 5in.x 5in. Circles: These come two to a page. These have the option of including the visual aid clipart as well.

I taught my first grade students the ASL signs for restroom, water, tissue, sit, stand, and yes these past few years to help with classroom management and minimize disruptions. I used the "sit" hand sign to remind them to fix the way they are sitting during carpet time. It's a quick, silent reminder that worked for a lot of my students! They used the "restroom" sign to ask permission and I would respond with the "yes" or "no" sign. There was not an ASL clipart sign for "wait" or "one second" if a child asked to use the restroom and I needed them to wait a minute, so I taught them that if I held up one finger, that meant wait one minute.
