What educators are saying

Incredibly helpful during distance learning. The materials were easily accessed and the students enjoyed the information.

Description

This "flipped classroom" Civics and Government curriculum is perfect for Distance Learning! It includes video lessons that cover everything your students need to know for the American Government course, with guided notes or a graphic organizer for each!

Flipped classroom is a strategy in which students watch an instructional video at home and do the typical "homework" in class, where the teacher can provide more guidance. It's a great strategy to cut back on lectures and save more time for projects, primary source analysis, and other engaging in-class activities.

This download includes a link to a YouTube playlist of 30 video lessons to cover every major topic from the Foundations of American Government through State and Local Government.

Videos and guided notes for the following lessons are included in the download:

  • The State & Purpose of Government
  • Theories on the Beginning of Government
  • Types of Government
  • Characteristics of Democracy
  • The English Civil War and Limited Government
  • Enlightenment Philosophers and American Government
  • George Mason & Thomas Jefferson's Influence
  • The Articles of Confederation
  • The Constitutional Convention
  • Amending the Constitution
  • Political Parties in America
  • Liberals, Conservatives, and the Political Spectrum
  • Elections and Voting in America
  • Campaign Finance and Elections
  • The Electoral College
  • Gerrymandering and Redistricting
  • The Role of the Media and "Fake News"

  • Local Government

Each video is a fully-narrated overview of a topic that explains key concepts, people, terms, and events in ways that students can understand. You can preview one of them on the Roles of the President here.

Note, that the actual PowerPoint files are not included with this bundle to keep the cost down. This purchase includes just the videos and Word Document files of all the guided notes.

The guided notes worksheets are perfectly matched up with the videos so that students can take brief notes on the key concepts from each video. Some include interactive notebook-style graphic organizer options in addition to the outline notes as well.

A directions page includes the link to a private video playlist on YouTube as well as several recommended strategies on how to use the videos in your classroom.

Answer keys for every page are now also included with the download!

You can also get access to all of these videos and guided notes along with the PowerPoints, Google Slides, activities, projects, lesson plans, and more with my Civics and American Government Curriculum.

Thanks so much for checking it out!
