What educators are saying

This was a great resource that helped me tremendously being a certified middle grades math teacher teaching 7th grade social studies for the first time EVER!
This was a great resource to show all sides of Columbus's exploration and allowed for a strong class discussion.

Description

In this engaging and focused Christopher Columbus activity, students take on the role of investigators as they learn about the two sides of Christopher Columbus (similar to a Columbus Hero or Villian activity).

Students examine a variety of primary and secondary sources on Christopher Columbus' exploration, how he was viewed by his sailors, the positives and negatives of the Columbian Exchange, his accomplishments, as well as his treatment of the native people in the Americas. Students document evidence at every step to understand the good and bad sides of Christopher Columbus. Once finished, students submit their findings in a final brief!

Engaging, fun, and geared toward improving primary source skills!

This resource includes a paper in-class version and a 1:1 Google compatible version to be used in conjunction with Google Classroom.
