What educators are saying

I bought this and the Grinch poster to review coordinate planes and my students really enjoyed them! It was also fun to hang them in the hallways for everyone to see.
My students absolutely loved this activity. I broke the class into smaller groups and gave them the coordinates and graph paper, but didn't tell them what they were plotting. Then they came together to work out, make and colour their masterpieces!

Description

This project is a fun twist on my usual coordinate plane graphs. This one includes 25 lists of coordinates & distinct graphs that fit together like a puzzle to create a poster size copy of "A Charlie Brown Christmas". Such a fun way for students to practice graphing on the coordinate plane and collaborate during the holiday season! :)

This activity provides students with practice graphing in all four quadrants on the coordinate plane. Coordinates include positive & negative, whole & half numbers (example 6, -2.5). Please note: There are a lot of coordinates that include 0.5! It's great for "early finishers" or can be used as an extra credit assignment.

You will receive:

  • blank coordinate plane (to distribute to each student)
  • 25 lists of coordinates (1 list per student)
  • colored answer key for each of the graphs
  • photo of the final product

Standards

to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
Understand a rational number as a point on the number line. Extend number line diagrams and coordinate axes familiar from previous grades to represent points on the line and in the plane with negative number coordinates.
Understand signs of numbers in ordered pairs as indicating locations in quadrants of the coordinate plane; recognize that when two ordered pairs differ only by signs, the locations of the points are related by reflections across one or both axes.
Find and position integers and other rational numbers on a horizontal or vertical number line diagram; find and position pairs of integers and other rational numbers on a coordinate plane.
