CVC Word Puzzles:Spring Edition-w/ Differentiated Recording Sheets

This ink-friendly Spring literacy center will help reinforce blending onset and rime CVC words and also identify the onset in CVC words. My ESL/ELL students struggle with blending beginning, middle, and ending sounds, so I created this to help review and reinforce their sound blending skills. Puzzles keep students engaged and it is rewarding when they match the pieces together! Differentiated recording sheets are provided, see below for details.

THIS IS A BLACKLINE VERSION ONLY! Print on colored paper. I suggest pastel colored paper to keep with the springtime theme!

This puzzle activity includes 2 differentiated puzzle activities:
-Blending onset and rime
-Find the missing onset (after students put the puzzle together, they can either use a dry erase marker to write the missing onset or use other letter manipulative (letter magnets,foam letters, letter pasta, letter beads, etc.) *NEW ACTIVITY: UPDATED 3/12/17*

There are 12 medial short /a/ words, 14 medial short /e/ words, 10 medial short /i/ words, 8 medial short /o/ words, and 6 medial short /u/ words.

RECORDING SHEETS:
Write the CVC Word- Write the CVC words you make with the puzzle
CVC Word Sentences-Choose 3 words, write and illustrate a sentence for each word
Rhyming Words- Match rhyming words and write them down
Medial Vowel Sound Sort- Sort the words by medial vowel sound and write the word in the appropriate medial vowel sound box

Perfect for a literacy center, small group, or RTI activity. I suggest using this in your sensory bin or pocket chart center!
