    Description

    This British Literature resource includes medieval literature activities, King Arthur research, and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight activities and projects. The Medieval Literature Story and Character Word Art project, resources, and activities are the perfect way to assess or extend your reading of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Le Morte D’Arthur, or Arthurian Legends.

    This bundle also includes a King Arthur Research Webquest! Explore King Arthur, the Knights of the Round Table, and the quest for the Holy Grail in this engaging collaborative research project!

    Project One: Medieval Literature Story and Character Word Art Project

    Students select a British literature story and character from the Middle Ages literary period, generate a character trait list, select a symbolic image (or use one of their own drawings) and create Medieval Literature word art!

    This project uses the free WordArt website and is compatible with all devices – including Chromebooks and iPads! All you need is access to Google Chrome!

    With structured directions, a step-by-step Word Art tutorial with screenshots, and detailed project sheet, students will stay organized, motivated, and focused. Several project examples from Arthurian Legends and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight are included to serve as models and motivate the students!

    Students will complete a Medieval Lit Word Art chart by selecting three of their featured character traits or key terms and providing textual evidence from the story for support.

    Project Two: King Arthur, Knights of the Round Table, and Arthurian Legends Webquest

    Discover the legend of King Arthur, Knights of the Round Table, Arthurian legends, and medieval society in this whimsical research adventure! Pair this with your reading of Le Morte d' Arthur, legends and folklore unit, or with any British Literature course! Students will love discovering information on King Arthur as they embark on this adventure!

    Webquest Topics Include:

    ⭐️ The Legend of King Arthur

    ⭐️ The Sword and the Stone

    ⭐️ The Origins of Arthurian Legends

    ⭐️ The Legend of Excalibur

    ⭐️ The Knights of the Round Table and Knight's Honor Pledge

    ⭐️ Knights and Feudal Society

    ⭐️ Life During the Middle Ages and Medieval Society

    Working collaboratively in teams of four, students will complete a King Arthur Webquest and create a group slide presentation based on their research findings.

    Each group member will assume one of the following webquest roles during research:

    • Investigator (Research Topic - King Arthur, Arthurian Legends, and the Legend of Excalibur)
    • Adventurer (Research Topic - Knights of the Round Table)
    • Traveler (Research Topic - History of the Holy Grail)
    • Teacher (Research Topic -Life during the Medieval Ages)

    Each student or "role" has unique topics and websites to explore. Each role his specific research links and guiding questions. Individual accountability is included before students work collaboratively on their final projects!

    Implementation is easy!

    You'll be provided with a link to a King Arthur Webquest Google Site that contains a project description, separate webpages for each group member according to his role, a note-taking and source citation handout, and all website research links.

    All the work has been done for you!

    Guiding questions will provide your students with structure as they learn about their research topics. An answer key for ALL research questions is provided!

    Are your students blocked from Google Sites? Just use the research packets created for each webquest role instead!

    This project can easily be modified for cooperative research pairs or individual student research. Teachers will direct students to choose two of the group roles instead of 4 and examine the research sites listed under each.
